L-Theanine (gamma-glutamylethylamide) is a natural amino acid analog related to L-Glutamic acid. It has been used In Japan for decades as a food additive to help reduce stress, improve sleep, and enhance focus similar to how the USA adds caffeine to their soft drinks. L-Theanine naturally occurs in small amounts in Green Tea (Camellia sinensis).
L-Theanine has been shown to increase alpha brain waves which are associated with a state of relaxation. L-Theanine also appears to reduce the stimulating effects of Glutamate (a stimulatory neurotransmitter) by acting as a Glutamate antagonist (a compound that opposes), which may have neuroprotective effects.
L-Theanine may provide an increased sense of well being, reduced stress, and improved sleep quality. L-Theanine may also improve dream state, enhanced wakefulness, and may help reduce unwanted stimulatory side effects of stimulants like caffeine, amphetamines, etc while helping reduce tolerance issues that arise from taking those compounds.
1-4 capsules daily or as needed on an empty stomach.
